Translation is one of the fastest-growing professions today, and there's a world-wide shortage of Chinese into English translators To meet that demand, the NYU School of Professional Studies has launched an M.S. in Translation, a 36-credit master's degree that can be completed in three semesters of full-time study, or 5 years part-time study. Offered in four language pairs-Chinese into English, French into English, and Spanish-English in either direction, the M.S. in Translation provides in-depth preparation in broad array of translation needs and rigorous practical training in the craft of inter-language communication with a focus on legal, financial, commercial, and technical materials. The M.S. in Translation is fully online for students in Spanish and French concentrations, and for Chinese to English, on-site on the NYU New York City campus in the hub of international trade and finance. Domestic and international students form strong linguistic and personal bonds. Admission to this program is based upon advanced literacy in English and one of the three language options.
